Safety
Cranberry Township is widely recognized as a safe community in which to live, work and raise a family. Its property crimes and violent crime rates are both dramatically lower than the state’s average. Emergency services to the Township are provided by the Cranberry Township Police Department, the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, and the Cranberry Emergency Medical Service – all of which are dispatched by Butler 911 and coordinated locally by Cranberry’s Public Safety Director.
The Cranberry Township Police Department, which currently includes 28 full-time officers, is housed in the Township’s Municipal Center and maintains close working relationships with allied law enforcement agencies. The Fire Company, which is also supported by Township tax revenues, operates out of two strategically positioned stations, which are separate from the Municipal Center, and maintains a training facility in a third Township location. The Company’s first responders – the Fire Brigade – include 50 active members. It also maintains Mutual Aid agreements with a dozen neighboring fire companies.
The EMS – which was originally part of the Fire Company – is a financially independent organization with its base station on Thomson Park Drive. The organization’s 40 members, which include EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and a physician, provide 24-hour advanced life support care to Cranberry Township, Seven Fields Borough, and the northern part of New Sewickley Township in Beaver County
An Emergency Management Agency convenes public safety officials and operational staff members whenever circumstances arise that require higher levels of interagency coordination.
